The Nith River meanders behind Jon Sinden’s on a crisp, clear September day, and amid the peaceful surroundings, you can tell his mind is at ease.
Looking back now, though, he realizes he was swimming upstream most his life.
Less than a year ago, Sinden, 42, was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. It came as somewhat of a surprise at the time, although not so much after being awakened to what he termed “destructive cycles” that began as a teenager and became more noticeable with age.
