Our Mission
Our mission is to empower others to live life as it should be lived. We care about mental health and believe talking is a form of treatment. Through Arthur Bane, we plan to contribute to the conversation about the power of small lifestyle changes that can inspire healthier minds.
The Name
Before openly sharing his bipolar diagnosis with friends and family, our co-founder’s partner in life and business would affectionately call him a polar bear. It became a code word for his illness. The polar bear was an obvious choice for our brand image. He researched bear names and combined Arthur, meaning 'strong as a bear,' with Bane, meaning 'cause of great distress,' to create the name Arthur Bane. It’s an abstract code to show support for mental health.
Passion for Apparel
We’ve always been obsessed with small indy clothing brands because we love the stories behind them. They offer something different. With Arthur Bane, we wanted to create the kind of clothes we love wearing – simple, comfortable stuff you can wear every day. We wanted to add something unique – small touches that show quality and care to create your fave go-to shirt or hat.
